Voyager Bag

I finished my Voyager Bag a while ago but haven't blog for a while so now is the time.  I took it away with me in June and couldn't believe how much I could put into this bag.  I have had the pattern and the fabric for a while too but just hadn't gotten around to getting it done.  The pattern is from Among Brenda's Quilts.  She has a lot of really great patterns that are easy to follow.  Lots of easy instructions and pictures to follow along as you make your projects.  

Voyager Bag

I bought the fabric last year at the Minnesota Quilt Show and as soon as I saw it I knew that I would use it for this bag.  Brenda also has a pattern for a shoulder support for the bag.  You can see it in the picture.

I am really pleased with this bag.  Check out Brenda's website if you have a spare minute.  It may take more than that though because there is so much to see.

Lime Twist Tote

I finished a new bag today.  It is called the Lime Twist Tote by Brenda Miller.  She is a quilter that lives in Southern Ontario and designs bags and quilts.  Her bags finish very professionally with all seams hidden and most of them have a gusset in the top to finish the bag off.

The instructions are very detailed in all her patterns but they come with good instructions and lots of pictures to help you make the bag.

I have a couple of Brenda's patterns and am just waiting for fabric so that I can make a few more bags.  That is why they call me the bag lady.

Some Visitors and Another New Bag

I have had a few visitors this past week.  YKW and our son have gone moose hunting (no luck yet) so I thought it was easier to bring his cats to my house instead of me travelling across town twice a day to feed them and make sure everything was okay at his house.

The Everything Goes Bag

I bought the pattern from Brenda at the London International Quilt Show

last June when I went down for my grandson's graduation.

She has a website and a blog with lots of patterns and info.

I found this pattern very labour intensive but there were a lot

of good detailed instructions.

I will only make one change and that is to put a small piece

of Velcro or a snap on the inside pocket that holds

my netbook.  I found that the pocket gaped open when my

 netbook was in the pocket.

I will add that now by hand.

Anyone that sees this bag really loves it, and so do I.

I think I will get a lot of use out of it.

Three Finishes

I went to the London International Quilt Show in June when I was in London for my grandson's graduation and met a Canadian the vendor named Brenda Miller who sells patterns and accessories under the title "Among Brenda's Quilts".  I purchased 4 patterns and some special batting for bags and have finished making "The Yoga Girl Bag"

The Yoga Girl Bag

It matches the bag that I made to carry my blanket and blocks in when I go to my yoga class.

I am looking forward to classes starting up again in September.  I have been doing aquabics this summer to try to keep in some sort of shape, but miss yoga.

I also was able to finish putting the binding on another of my comfort quilts.

This will be donated to the Guild to go to one of the Homes for the Aged.

The Hexagon Quilt.

I cut all my bindings at 2 1/2 inches so any leftovers were perfect to make hexagons.  This is made entirely of scraps.  I like a scrap quilt to look like 'something' in the end and not just a bunch of scraps thrown together.

I was able to make the place mat pattern that I will be putting in September's Quill Newsletter.  I really like the way it turned out.  I got this pattern off the internet and emailed Alissa and asked her permission to use it and she was more than willing to give her okay for such a good cause.  I have been putting patterns in the newsletter so that the members have some new ideas to make place mats for Meals-on-Wheels.
