We hope to do a little bit of remodeling at camp this year so I thought I would make a new quilt.  I have made this one before and decided to change it up this time around.  It is called Cabin By The Lake designed by Leanne Anderson of the Whole Country Caboodle.  I used the Hinge Method to put the panels together and also when I added the border.  I also left off one of the borders.  I didn't want it as large as the pattern called for.  Also I was running out of fabric.

I was trying to decide what to use for the border.  These were the two fabrics that I had the most of since this was my second quilt using the same fabric.

It was a beautiful day today, 17 C, so I decided to take a picture by hanging it up outside in the beautiful sunshine.  Spring might be on it's way.

I also finished another door hanging from Country Junk'tion.  I made all 12 of them a few years ago but did not quilt them so they could be hung on the door.  I have decided that I better get them finished so that I can enjoy them.

Quilt Therapy Thursday 2014

It's been quite a while since we got together for Quilt Therapy and it was good to get back together again.  We took most of the month of December off and then other things just kept creeping up on us in January so today was the day to start our weekly get-to-gethers.

Joyce has been working on her Cabin by the Lake Quilt and she made pillows and a table runner to match, so now she is ready to make placemats to go with the rest of the ensemble.

We laid out all the colours and came up with this order.

She finished one but no picture yet.

Maria is doing paper piecing and making

trees.  These will be made into a 

table runner.

I was sewing small white squares to 5 inch coloured

squares to make an 

X's and O's quilt.

I still have a lot more to do, see the stack there beside the other mess.

Quilt Therapy Retreat

This past week the Quilt Therapy Group went on retreat to Hawkeye Lake.  It is a quiet setting with the nearest place behind a bank of trees and we only saw 2 boats on the lake.

We had one day of rain but otherwise we had time for walks and some exercise as well as lots of quilting.  It is great to get away with no husbands, children or grandchildren around and just sit and quilt and get caught up on what has been going on in our lives. We didn't let anything interfere with the task at hand.

We had a large piece of plywood placed on the table which gave us a lot of space to spread out.

Maria quilted the Star Wars Quilt for her grandson.

Joyce finished the quilt top for "Cabin by the Lake"

and started to quilt it.

Pierina finished the ABC quilt for her granddaughter

and started the quilting on it.

Maria and I were making small quilts for teddy bears

for Christmas Cheer Fund.

We are all looking forward to next year when we will do it all again.

Dreaming of Summer

I am dreaming of summer but first we have to get some Spring here.  On May the second we had about 20 cm of heavy, wet snow.  It is all gone now since the temperature reached 10 C today with some sun.  I am trying to get in the mood by making a few quilted items.

I also made a larger wall hanging for my front foyer.  It is from Fons and Porter.

It helps me think of Summer,

when we will have flowers blooming in our garden.
