Two More Finishes

I have been trying to get my last year's Block of the Months sewn together and quilted and have succeeded in getting one more finished.

The camera doesn't do the colours justice because the   quilt is brighter than this picture.
It finished at 60 x 60 inches, a little bigger than I like to quilt but I am quite happy with it.

Jackie Kunkle from Cranton Village had different quilters design each block.

This BOM is still available on the website if you are interested in making it.

Click on the button on the right hand side that says
"Blogger Block of the Month"

I also finished a table runner for my daughter and forgot to give it to her last week when the whole family was over for a visit.

This pattern is called "Cotton Reels" and is a
We picked up the pattern and kit at a small quilt shop
in Beaver Bay Minnesota.

They always have great kits put together and it makes quilting so much fun
because you don't have to pick out the fabric
it is all done for you.

A New Year of Quilt Therapy

Tuesday was Quilt Therapy day. It was a small group if you consider two to be a group. It was Pierina and me today as both Joyce and Maria were busy. Pierina and I went shopping for fabric last week so she started her new quilt today. She is doing the Craftsy Block Of The Month from last year.

Block Number 1

Block Number 2

I was working on framing my roosters for Lynda's quilt.  I was able to finish them all and now I have 10  framed and I am ready to start on making the blocks.

I am making some of them with red frames and some with blue frames to match the fabric in the blocks.

I was also able to make some of my piano key border for my
Cranton Village Quiltworks BOM.  I also called this
Blogger Block of the Month.

Getting Caught Up Continued

Blogger wouldn't let me post any more pictures because I had used up my allotted space and I am not buying space so I spent the last day and 1/2 deleting pictures from 2010.  I figured no one reads that far back anyway.

Some more blocks that were finished this weekend.

I am disappointed with the green dragon fly
it is too pale, but I love my ant.

Getting Caught Up

I was so far behind on my BOM's that I spent the last 2 days doing nothing but blocks.  YKW was up at the cabin and I was alone at home with outside temperatures too hot to enjoy.  So what does one do under these circumstances?   Well you sew, if you are me.  The temperatures the past few days were in the 30C range with humidex around 37C.  Far too hot to be out and about.

This block took me a long time to do because

Tomorrow Is A New Month

Tomorrow is a new month with new blocks to be downloaded and sewn so I have been busy finishing up this months blocks.  Some of my blocks come out at different times of the month or week so it seems I always have new ones to make.

This is June's block from Apple Avenue.
4 cute lady bugs

These blocks come out on the 25th of the month
so I am not behind on this one.

June Block from Joined at the Hip.
I am doing mine in just 2 colours

pink petals should be.

Six More Blocks Finished

I am trying to keep up with all my BOM's as well as do other projects and I am not doing too badly. I have 6 more finished and only one more to be completed for June. It is only the 10th so I think I am well ahead of the game. My alphabet blocks come out every week and I am waiting for the partner block before I start the letter so I have L now and it's partner will be out on Thursday.

More Blocks finished for my BOM's

I was a little bit behind with my BOM because of some visits to the hospital by my relatives with subsequent admissions, but things seem to be on the mend for now so I spent the last few days getting caught up.

Morning Glory Designs

Block 6 Purple Posey

Block 7 Pink Sunflower

I used blanket stitch for both of these instead of satin stitch.
I was having a lot of trouble with the satin stitch clumping
so I went to blanket stitch.

So now I am ready for next month.

Craftsy and Blogger Block of the Month Blocks

I have finished this month's blocks from the Craftsy BOM.  These are string blocks and are done different than anything I have read before.  The first one has 2 layers of fabric and the second one is done the same way using the triangle as a guide but is cut off when you are finished so there is only one layer of fabric.  This is a great BOM since there is a video each month to help you make the blocks.

March Block #1
This Block is prepared in squares.

Craftsy March Block #2
This block is prepared using triangles.

Blogger's Block #3

Blogger's Block #4

Blogger's Block #5
This block didn't turn out at 8 1/2 inches.
It is only 7 1/2 so I guess I have to rip it out.
I sewed it at 1/4 inch seam, it didn't
say to use a 'scant' 1/4 inch which I don't
like and don't use very often.

Blogger's Block #6.

This means that I am all caught up, except for ripping
out block # 5.  If it doesn't work I guess I
will just add another row and make it work.

I guess that is why my blog is called Sew, Rip, Sew
because here I go again, ripping out or
as some call it unsewing.
