More Blocks finished for my BOM's

I was a little bit behind with my BOM because of some visits to the hospital by my relatives with subsequent admissions, but things seem to be on the mend for now so I spent the last few days getting caught up.

Morning Glory Designs

Block 6 Purple Posey

Block 7 Pink Sunflower

I used blanket stitch for both of these instead of satin stitch.
I was having a lot of trouble with the satin stitch clumping
so I went to blanket stitch.

A Good Therapy Session Today.

We had a great quilt therapy session today.  Lots of laughs and a few frustrations and we seemed to get past those okay with a little help all around.

It was a beautiful week here temperature wise so not much quilting was done on our own, so today we all worked hard to accomplish something.

Joyce got the table topper trimmed and the binding sewn on.  The topper is an octagon so the binding was a challenge but she got it completed and is ready to do the hand sewing.

I really like the striped fabric on the binding.

Maria was still working on her mystery quilt and she was able to sew the main pieces together.  Now she has to add the borders.

If you look closely you can see
lady bugs on this quilt.

I was working on my spring wall hanging and I was able to finish it.  Tomorrow I am going to go and purchase the backing.

Spring has Sprung.

Shades of Autumn

I bought this kit when we were in New York City last year.  I started it last July and then sort of forgot about it.  Lynda asked me if I had made it yet and it jogged my memory.  Colleen and Lynda had paid for part of it as my birthday present since it was about a day away.

It is made of Fossil Fern from Benartex.  I'm disappointed that the picture is washed out.  It was a bright sunny day here.  The colours are very bright.   I may try to take another picture but it is too big for YKW to hold it up.  It is 81 x 81.

It is not quilted and never will be,
unless the person who inherits it decides to quilt it.

We have decided to use it as a summer quilt.
It is made like a duvet cover but I
sewed it completely shut.
 I put a few stitches
in the centre stems of the leaves
and the joined stems around the middle
to hold it together.

I also top stitched all around the edge
with the same colour of thread
to match the border pieces.

I used all the fabric that came with the kit so now I have to buy more because I want to make some pillow shams to match.  I think I will make a 12" centre square maple leaf and then add strips to make the sham.
One more thing to add to my never ending list.

A good Therapy Session on Thursday.

We had a good therapy session on Thursday.  Time went by too quickly, it seems some days we don't seem to get much done and accomplished in our quilting.

Maria was using the 9 1/2 inch ruler to square up
her star blocks.

She was able to work on them this past week
and finished them up today.

Cute Lady Bugs.

Joyce had been working on her table topper all week and put the few finishing touches on it today.

Now she has to trim the edges
and put the binding on.
She will be all set for spring.

I have started a new wall hanging and was making the pinwheel blocks.

The hearts have to appliqued.

This is a kit i bought in St John's Newfoundland when we were there last July and thought I should get started on it.  I didn't like the centre section of this pattern so I purchased something else.

This is a picture I got with the kit.
I am going to take the centre section
out and put in a border strip.

Wish me luck.

I DID IT.....

I did it.  I redid my Block 5 from the Blogger BOM.  This is from Quilt Dad and I had a tough time with it but I finally did it.

Block #5 a perfect 8 1/2 inches.

I also finished my E Blocks from Lyn Brown.

Craftsy and Blogger Block of the Month Blocks

I have finished this month's blocks from the Craftsy BOM.  These are string blocks and are done different than anything I have read before.  The first one has 2 layers of fabric and the second one is done the same way using the triangle as a guide but is cut off when you are finished so there is only one layer of fabric.  This is a great BOM since there is a video each month to help you make the blocks.

March Block #1
This Block is prepared in squares.

Craftsy March Block #2
This block is prepared using triangles.

Blogger's Block #3

Blogger's Block #4

Blogger's Block #5
This block didn't turn out at 8 1/2 inches.
It is only 7 1/2 so I guess I have to rip it out.
I sewed it at 1/4 inch seam, it didn't
say to use a 'scant' 1/4 inch which I don't
like and don't use very often.

Blogger's Block #6.

This means that I am all caught up, except for ripping
out block # 5.  If it doesn't work I guess I
will just add another row and make it work.

I guess that is why my blog is called Sew, Rip, Sew
because here I go again, ripping out or
as some call it unsewing.

To-day is Therapy Day - Quilt Therapy That Is.

A beautiful sunny day is Joyce's Sunroom made for some great quilting.

This isn't a great picture (taken through a window), but
this fellow came to visit us today.

He was more interested in eating, then
in quilting.

Joyce quilting her table topper and
Maria doing paper-piecing on her
mystery quilt.

Maria's star, she is still working on it.

I pieced together 3 more placemats.
I just have to put the side borders on
and then quilt them.

Four Blocks completed

I have completed 4 more blocks from my blocks of the month.

In Color Order - Block 3

Apple Avenue - Block 3

Craftsy Block 3

I haven't sewn the applique on this last block but I just had to post it because
I just love it.

There has been a real St. Patrick's day theme to March BOM's.

I am also considering another BOM but I think I have enough on my plate right now.  I may just take down the info and do it later when I have a few things finished that need to be done.  I have to do a demo for the possibilities club and I haven't started it yet.

Quilt Therapy Thursday

It wouldn't be Thursday without our quilt therapy.  There were just 3 of us this week and we managed to get a lot done.  There was lots of catching up to do since Maria just got back from vacation.

Joyce has finished her Bed Scarf and pillows.  Well done Joyce.

Bed Scarf and Quilted Pillows

Joyce was also able to put her table topper together.

 Roulette from Lehmann Quilting

Maria was working on her Mystery Quilt.

Mystery Quilt

I was able to sew the binding onto my St Patrick's Day Placemats.  I have 4 completed and want to make 4 more for a total of 8

St Patrick's Day Placemats.

I used a pattern called Irish Eyes, and the link to it is found HERE

Blogger Block of the Month

I have decided to start another BOM.  I chose the fabric from my stash so it will not be scrappy but will contain all or some of these 5 fabrics and the beige background fabric.

If you go to the website for Blogger BOM you will
notice that they chose very bold fabrics where
I have chosen pastels and more subdued fabrics.

I am a few months behind so I decided to do 2 blocks today and try to get caught up.  This BOM doesn't come out until the 25th of the month so I will have time in between my other ones to catch up on this one.

D Block

I finished the D block and its partner, from Lyn Brown's Block of the Week.

D Block
and
Double Delectable Diamonds

Now I am thinking of starting another Block of the Month called Blogger's Block of the Month.  I think I have the fabric picked out and will share it when I make my first block.
